GitTrail is in preview: commands and features may change before the first release, and host integrations are still being tested against each live service.

In this chapterUnderstand what stays local and which operations use the network.

Your workspace stays on your machine
Local repositories
System keychain
You control sync
  • Nothing syncs by itself: no background fetch, pull or push.
  • Only its own settings are touched: GitTrail changes only the Git config entries it created.
  • Undo for every change to branches and history, and snapshots before discards.
  • Wrong-account pushes are stopped, in the app and (with the push check) in any tool.
  • Secrets are caught before you commit them.
  • Local only: the app runs on your computer (127.0.0.1) with a secret key, and loads nothing from the internet.
  • Tokens stay in your system keychain.
